Hontas

Hontas is a German DJ and curator based in Berlin, known for rhythm-driven, narrative sets shaped by hypnotic movement, subtle tension and long-form progression.

With a background in classical piano and dance, her musical approach is shaped by a strong sense of rhythm, timing, structure and dynamics. Her connection to electronic music began in

Kassel’s underground scene in 2015, where she became deeply involved as a DJ, curator and promoter. More than a decade of playing has developed into a considered and instinctive way of working with sound, from track selection and phrasing to the gradual development of energy across a set. Since relocating to Berlin, she has become a regular at RSO.Berlin and has performed at established clubs and venues across the country.

Her sound is rooted in hypnotic, deeply rhythmic techno, combining weighty basslines, intricate percussion, restrained melodic elements, loops and layered textures. Subtle shifts in rhythm, harmony, density and atmosphere create progression, with each track carefully placed within the wider context of the set.

A balance between intention and intuition is central to her style. Hontas approaches the DJ set as one continuous composition, allowing tension and energy to develop naturally while keeping the music functional, physical and rich in detail.
